NYPA's Power To Schools Program

As a result of a new State law, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) established the "Power To Schools" program to assist public and private schools across the Empire State to better manage their power costs through energy efficiency improvements and assistance in shopping for economical electricity.

Specifically, the "Power To Schools" program is designed to help schools lower their energy costs in two ways.

First, NYPA has compiled a list of fully qualified energy service companies whose representatives are ready to talk to school representatives about how they can meet the school's energy needs.

Second, NYPA has been providing the State's schools with energy efficiency and other sophisticated clean energy technologies for the last 15 years, and it continues and extends these efforts under the "Power To Schools' program.

NYPA can help schools lower power cost through its own energy efficiency projects.  These NYPA-installed projects include lighting upgrades, high-efficiency motors, replacement or renovation of boilers and chillers, lighting occupancy sensors, insulation, and energy management systems.
