Project 2015: State Agencies Prepare for the Impact of an Aging New York

In February, 2002, State Agencies were asked to consider and prepare for the significant demographic changes that will take place in New York State by the year 2015. New York anticipates an increased older population as the "Baby Boomer" generation becomes age 65 or older as well as an increased number of non-English speaking residents. These increasing populations will place demands on New York State, its goverment and its resources. As part of "Project 2015," thirty-six state agencies, led by the NYS Office for the Aging, reviewed their major programs, policies and procedures to assess the impacts of an increasingly older and more diverse population. The PSC joined these agencies in developing strategies and action steps to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing face of New York State.
For more information on this initiative, visit the NYS Office for the Aging's Project 2015 webpage.
