Rochester Gas & Electric

Case Background

On September 17, 2009, Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation (RG&E or the Company) formally asked the NYS Public Service Commission (Commission) to approve increases in revenues (the total amount of money collected from customers through the rates they pay) for electric and natural gas delivery service.

On July 14, 2010 a Joint Proposal was filed by Department of Public Service (DPS) Staff, RG&E, Multiple Intervenors (an association of large industrial, commercial and institutional energy customers), and Nucor Steel Auburn, Inc. proposing terms to resolve contested issues, including a rate plan starting September 26, 2010 and continuing through December 31, 2013. A summary of the case and terms of the joint proposal can be found here.

The Commission is scheduled to consider this case in September 2010. It may adopt or reject the Joint Proposal in whole or in part. An Administrative Law Judge is presiding over the gathering of public comment and all evidence relating to the proposal.
