PSC Seeks Comment Regarding Rates, Charges, Rules, and Regulations of Con Edison for Electric Service

Consolidated Edison filed an application with the New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) to increase rates for its electric service. The Company has proposed to increase its annual electric revenues by $1.225 billion. According to the Company, the increase is needed to support investments in the electric delivery infrastructure, demand reduction and energy efficiency initiatives, among other areas.

Ways to Comment

The Commission held a series of public statement hearings between January 8th and January 23rd to receive comments from the public regarding the proposed rate increase. The Commission will also accept comments in the following manner: 

Writing:  Consumers may comment by writing to Jaclyn A. Brilling, Secretary, Public Service Commission, Three Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York 12223-1350. Your comments should refer to "Case 07-E-0523 Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. - Rates."

Toll-free Opinion Line: Comments may also be submitted through the Commission's Opinion Line at 1-800-335-2120. This number is designed to take comments about pending cases from in-state callers, 24 hours a day. Callers should select English or Spanish and press "1" to leave comments.

Internet: Comments may also be submitted via the "PSC Comment Form" in the "Consumer Assistance" file accessed through the Commission's website at http://www.dps.ny.gov/ or via the "Contact Us" link in the banner area at the top of the page.

All comments submitted via one of these means should be submitted or mailed and post marked no later than February 8, 2008. All statements and comments received by the Commission will be placed in the public case file.
