HeatSmart 08

The PSC is reaching out to consumers this winter to promote energy conservation and help protect the environment.  We are working closely with community leaders and organizations and have launched a statewide, multimedia consumer education program based on the theme, "Heat Smart, New York!"

The demand for electricity in New York State continues to grow.  This summer when hot weather places an even great demand on New York's electric grid, we have energy and water conservation tips that will help you conserve energy in your home.

Controlling Your Bill

Your electricity bill depends on how much electricity you use and what rate you are paying.  One of the things that you can do to control your bill is to have an energy audit of your home.

Lower the setting on your water heater thermostat to 120 degrees Fahrenheit or midway between "Warm -- Normal" or "Low -- Medium."
