The PSC is reaching out to consumers this summer to promote energy conservation and help protect the environment.  We are working closely with community leaders and organizations and have launched a statewide, multimedia consumer education program based on the theme, "Saving energy is cool."

The demand for electricity in New York State continues to grow.  This summer when hot weather places an even great demand on New York's electric grid, we have energy and water conservation tips that will help you conserve energy in your home.

Adequate Supply and Reliability

On an extremely hot day, when electricity usage is at its peak, New York's electric utilities may take special steps to maintain the reliability of the state's electricity system.  Utilities may issue public appeals to residential customers on the radio and TV to reduce energy use.

Controlling Your Bill

Your electricity bill depends on how much electricity you use and what rate you are paying.  One of the things that you can do to control your bill is to have an energy audit of your home.
